First Post! Good Bye Old, Ugly Kitchen!

It's 8:30 am and the sound of drilling has begun. My normally quiet, hobbit-hole of a house is echoing with the sound of work boots and whistling. We are in the midst of a complete kitchen renovation, which we desperately need. It's great to see things getting done, but so incredibly tough to live in a construction site. I decided to start this blog as a way to stay sane throughout this process.

Our home was built in the late 1940's, and the kitchen appears to never have been updated. Dark, dreary cabinets, mustard colored linoleum on the floor and walls, counters... it was bad.

I will not miss you, ugly kitchen. You are a brown-frown.

My vision for this kitchen is to turn it into a large, modern farmhouse style kitchen. We are blowing out a few walls to transform the small, 10x13' kitchen into a large 20x13'kitchen.

These walls will go bye-bye!

Our adjoining breezeway will get legitamite walls and doors and become an office/den. Everything needs to be replaced... new floors, walls, ceiling, appliances, plumbing, electric and gas... it's quite a project!

View of the adjoining breezeway, which has just been used as the destination of my husband's ever growing junk-pile. Yes, that is astro-turf on the floor...

And we are doing it all for this little lady, Miss Katherine Irene Taylor, who is due in just 11 short weeks on May 24th. We have a fire under our butts to get our house in order before our first baby arrives!
